Lip Filler Q&A

What is lip filler?

Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler, which are injectable substances that work to increase volume in targeted areas. At Northshore Dermatology, considerable time and effort go into researching which products and services to bring to the practice.

The team uses Juvéderm® for all lip enhancement procedures. Backed by years of experience and clinical trials, this product offers safe, reliable results that create a truly beautiful and natural-looking finish.

What happens during lip filler treatments?

The process begins with a discussion of your treatment goals and a quick assessment of your skin and facial contouring. Lip enhancement is more than just pumping up the volume of your lips.

Fillers offer the chance to refine your lip lines, enhance lip volume, and create subtle changes in the curve of your smile. The planning process is an essential part of a successful lip filler experience.

On the day of your treatment, your practitioner uses an ultra-thin needle to place the gel-like filler into your lips and the surrounding tissue. Juvedérm  contains lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic that helps minimize discomfort.

A degree of swelling and tenderness is normal in the hours and days after treatment. Your body quickly adjusts, so you can enjoy your newly refined lip shape and volume right away.

How long do lip filler treatments last?

You can expect your results from Juvéderm treatment to last around one year. Over time, your body slowly absorbs the filler material. Your lymphatic system processes and eliminates the filler.

At that point, you can decide if you’d like to come back in for another round of treatment. If so, you can make changes to your previous treatment. Just let your practitioner know, and they can administer more or less filler during the next round of injections to refine your results.

Dr. Tabor has extensive experience with lip fillers. He has earned designation as a Top 500 Allergan® provider and exclusively offers fillers from the Juvéderm family of products.

Lip fillers also treat vertical lip lines, lip wrinkles, and other lines around the mouth. When you’re ready to learn more, call the office to book a visit. You can also book online, which takes very little time to complete.
